Wooden dowels out of beech wood (8x32mm) inoculated with mycelium of the selected variety of mushrooms are used for inoculating the trunks of deciduous trees.
Mycelium on dowels is a practical and effective choice for growing mushrooms on wooden substrates. Wooden dowels have been inoculated with high-quality mycelium of a selected mushroom strain under sterile conditions, ensuring optimal growth and successful colonization of the wood.
Usage:
- Drill holes in the trunks in a zigzag pattern at a distance of approximately 10 cm (1 mm wider and longer than the plug with mycelium). 100 plugs are sufficient to inoculate two trunks 1 m long and 15 cm in diameter.
- Insert the plugs into the trunks using a hammer. Leave a millimeter of space above the plugs for the wax.
- Coat the dowels with the pre-melted wax. Also coat all parts of the trunk that do not have bark to prevent the trunk from drying out.
- Place the trunks in a dark and warm (20-24°C) place and wait for the mycelium to completely grow through the trunk. When the mushroom buds begin to form, place the trunks in the light. You can also place them in the forest (or a shady part of the garden), but the mycelium will grow more slowly.
Storage: Store the dowels in a dark and cool place (2-8°C) until use.
